The forum format is a new option to start a conversation on Sutra — a perfect choice for organizing a community with people posting on different subjects.
Switch to the Edit page mode on the top menu.
Put the cursor on the empty line below the content and click on the + icon. Or click on the Space icon shortcut.
Enter the space name
Click on the space format field and select Forum
You also have the option to keep this space Open or Private. Or to schedule this space to be published on a specific date and time.
Once everything is set, click on the Create space button
To create your first post, enter the Forum space and follow the steps below:
Click on the Create post box
Enter your post title and description (optional)
Click on Create post
You can also add a thumbnail to your posts by following the steps below:
Click on the vertical ellipsis of your post
Select Add thumbnail
Choose the source of your image
Click on Select image
Now that the post is created, you can add content, to do this, click on the created post
Then, click on the Edit page blue button on the top bar
Click on a new line, and add your text, or click on the + icon to access all building blocks available. As in all Sutra spaces, you have infinite options to display your content. You can add images, videos, files, links, etc.
Note: On Forum spaces, comments will be enabled by default in Post format, but you can disable this setting if you don't want to allow participants to comment on your posts.
To adjust the Forum settings, click on the gear icon in the Create post box.
You can choose to display your posts in a list or grid view:
You can choose to sort posts by date created, last active, or alphabetic:
The display options will be set as below by default, but you can choose to disable them.
Posts: Create posts on specific topics in a format similar to a Facebook feed or a blog
Discussions: Start separate discussions on specific topics
Link: Share links from other spaces and events (Example: https://sutra.co/space/pgwstm/events)
Template: Template spaces can either be direct subspaces of this space, or they can be linked spaces. Linked spaces are independent top level spaces that will show up on this page. The creator of the space will become a full manager of the space that they create.
You can pre-create tags that can be added to each post by the members to help them filter the messages by specific topics:
